The Library provides At Home delivery services to patrons who wish to access library materials but are unable to visit in person, such as those who are elderly, disabled or experiencing long-term injury/illness. Delivery is provided on a monthly basis, either by a library staff member/volunteer or a designated family member/friend who will pick up and return materials on the patron’s behalf.
Eligibility for At Home Service:
- Individual is in need of repeated, periodic delivery of library materials and is unable to visit the library in-person for a period of at least 2 months or more
- Individual is a resident of Radnor Township AND a holder of a current Delaware County Libraries library card
For those who do not meet these requirements but still have a need to access library resources without leaving the house, consider looking into our digital collection of online eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and more that can be checked out anytime from home with a Delaware County Libraries Card. Contact the Reference Department at virtualreference@radnorlibrary.org or at 610-687-1124, ext.21 for more information and assistance.
Materials available through this program:
- Fiction and nonfiction books from the regular and large print collections, books on CD, Playaway audiobook devices, music CDs, and magazines. High demand materials or those with short circulation periods (new fiction and nonfiction, Library of Things items, etc.) may be excluded from this service.
How it works:
- Patron will submit a completed application and reading preferences form to the Library. (see below)
- The Reference Department will compile/check out materials and place them in a designated At-Home Service library bag with the patron’s name on it.
- Service is performed once a month. Patron may request whether material is delivered to the home via library staff/volunteer OR picked up and returned to the library on the patron’s behalf by a designated agent (family member or friend).
- The patron will contact the Reference Department of the Library (610-687-1124, ext. 21) to request specific titles, otherwise a librarian or volunteer will select materials based on interests.
- Patrons agree to assume full financial responsibility for the materials they receive through this service. If any materials are lost or damaged, they will pay library the replacement cost for this item.
