We are proud to announce our new Seed Library!
Radnor Memorial Library’s seed lending library provides seeds free of charge to community members to sow in their home gardens and a place for them to return and share seeds from their plants with other community members.
The goal of the Seed Library is to provide a place for seed sharing within the township as well as educational information that will nurture and support gardeners, nature, and wildlife in our community.
Our collection includes seeds for vegetables, herbs, flowers, and native plants.
How It Works
Borrow
- Select up to four packets of seeds per month from our Seed Library.
- Fill out a Check Out form and drop it into the Check Out Bin.
A library card is not required to check out seeds, but if you’d like to get one stop by the front desk. It’s easy!
Grow
- Start your seeds at home or plant them directly in your garden.
- Feed and water them – and ENJOY!
Learn more about plant health, garden design, propagation, etc. using the laminated resource pages at the Seed Library, our collection of gardening books, or by attending a library program.
Tell us about your gardening adventures by taking pictures and sharing them with us on our Facebook or Instagram accounts @radnorlibrary 🙂
Share
- Collect seeds from your plants and save some for the Library.
- Make sure your seeds are clean, dry, securely packaged, and labelled.
- Complete a Seed Donation form and place it, along with your seeds in the Donation Bin at the Seed Library.
Don’t save seeds from hybrid varieties (often labelled “F1”). Save seeds that are non-GMO, open pollinated, heirloom, or heritage. If you prefer, you may purchase a packet or two of fresh, commercially grown, open-pollinated (non-GMO, non-hybrid) seeds to donate.
This project was made possible with support from the Radnor Township Environmental Advisory Committee and Seed Savers Exchange.
