Adult Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Radnor Memorial Library!

Outlined below are the ways you can help.

Book Sale Volunteers – with the Friends of Radnor Library

Help us receive donations, and sort, price, and organize books for the bi-annual book sales held by the Friends of the Library.  Book sales are held the 3rd weekend in May and October. Or assist with one of the many other tasks before, during, and after the book sale. Tasks include:

  • Receiving donations – Tuesdays or Thursdays from 11am-1pm
  • Sorting books into subjects – once a week
  • Being a subject expert – pricing and shelving books in a particular subject area – once or twice a month depending upon the subject
  • Helping to set up and clean up the book sales
  • Being a greeter, sales assistant, or cashier at the biannual sales

Volunteers must submit an application and complete background checks. (See the bottom of this page for links.)

Garden Care Volunteers

Help us keep our beautiful grounds watered and weed free and in the quiet months, keep our Seed Library tidy and well-stocked.

Volunteers must submit an application and complete background checks. (See the bottom of this page for links.)

Home Delivery Volunteers

Help us select and deliver books to homebound residents.

Volunteers must submit an application, complete background checks (see links at the bottom of this page), and interview with the coordinator before being selected to deliver books to homebound residents.

Elves for the Shelves 5K, Walk & Fun Run Volunteers

Every year on the first Saturday in December, Elves for the Shelves brings together over 600 runners, walkers, and fun runners to raise vital funds for the Library.

It takes hundreds of volunteers to make this event a success.  Opportunities include serving as a race marshal along the course, assisting with registration and t-shirt distribution, helping with setup and cleanup, assembling swag bags, and more.

Volunteer sign-up opens September 15th at the following link: https://runsignup.com/Race/PA/Wayne/ElvesfortheShelves5k

Corporate and Group Opportunities

Would your group like to volunteer at the Library?  We can facilitate a ‘day of service’ with your employees or club.  Possibilities include helping to set up for one of our biannual book sales, cleaning and tidying shelves, shelf reading (shorthand for making sure the books are in order on the shelves), special projects organizing collections or moving books, washing windows, and helping with our 5K & Fun Run in November and early December.  Groups of up to 10 work best.
